Frequently asked questions

What temperature should I preheat the stone to?
Preheat to 500°F (260°C) for at least 30–45 minutes before launching your pizza. The hotter the stone, the crisper the crust. For Neapolitan-style, go as high as your oven allows (typically 550°F).
Can I use it on a BBQ or outdoor pizza oven?
Yes. Natural cordierite handles very high heat. Place the stone on your BBQ grate, close the lid, and preheat for 20–30 minutes before use.
How do I clean the stone?
Let it cool fully, then scrape off residue with a brush/scraper or a plastic spatula. Never use soap or dishwasher — the porous stone will absorb detergent. A little charring is normal and helps seasoning.
Will it crack?
Proper preheating is the key: always place the stone in a cold oven and heat it WITH the oven. Never put a cold stone into a hot oven, and never douse a hot stone with cold water. Handled correctly, it’ll last for years.
